good times
wmp: jimmy eat world - my sundown.
for the last two weeks we made three trips to the beach of which one was on vesak day. we started out our first game in the drizzle and cold wind but found ourselves winning game after game till the weather grew fine and us, worn out. the consecutive matches were honestly hard on my knee and even my neck was getting it from the frantic hard dives but i guess the satisfaction of victory(especially of that one match) and feeling of personal worth more than made up for it. it was finally after a couple of friendlies with zh and her gang that we decided to hit the showers. the day after was felix day and we met up again at city hall. along the way i saw sgt sutan. let's just say it was an awkward moment but i was left reminiscing the good times in bmt. it was dinner at the esplanade and we lazed around before spending the night at felix place and then we were back at the beach the next morning. we had a couple of good games. old jjc senior guys were around. i wasn't in much shape to do much at the end of the day so i sat out of the last match. but i was soon obliged to join another game with my fellow jjc mates. apparently, that wasn't very spartan of me according to the rest of the go5. it was back to work eventually. friday came eventually too. i walked out of camp and found the thick clouds blotting out the sun. it felt unusual like a day after working OT but i was right on time out, 530pm. there were alot of change of plans for the night but jj, jb and i eventually caught oceans13 at jp. it was a good film. recommended. saturday. i met up with everyone else late at the beach. we didn't play much ball but found ourselves lazing around and eventually fooling around along the shore. we realised throwing handfuls of sand hard at each other can be very cathartic. there were two sides at war. then sj betrayed kw, kw betrayed me and it turned out to be something quite out of the infernal affairs. in the end, i was on my own. i put up a brave struggle for which a good scratch along the side of my body can attest to. i did not take a good look at it until i saw it again at kw's place on the mirror where i realised how wicked it looked. some where along the way kw mentioned that he had a bottle of vodka at his place and i couldn't resist suggesting a night at his place since we wld probably end up not knowin' our next move after the beach anyway. we made it to the bottom of the bottles of vodka and wine in no time. it was a joyful night around the table. t'was even talk about coming over to my place for the chivas but we didn't exactly get to that. felix & cs were engaging in conversations which didn't really go anywhere nor made much sense either but kept sj & i amused and entertained nevertheless. absolut ruby red - $30. red wine - $25. felix throwing up in a plastic bag with a hole laying puke all over kw's floor - priceless. i was sent crawling on the floor in pure hard laughter. it was a good night. haha. till next time, whenever it may be... jorn was alive and kickin' at 12:32:00 AM 19 comments

langkawi
i was glad the nasty wound on my foot closed up before we took off for the trip. work on that day itself was pretty much doing nothing in the office; we played warcraft till it was almost time to close up and we were on our way out an hour earlier than usual because there wasn't exactly much to do...
i was picked up by dad and had some food at the nearby prata house before proceeding to meet up with the rest. wasn't long before we embarked on our little adventure and reached kl in the morning at around 1am. corona's inn proved to be difficult to find even with a map. for most of our tours t'were 4 of us in the back seats of the cab. it wasn't much of a problem but apart from that, i slept well even as we travelled for long hours; on the coach, plane and even on board the ferry to penang. i guess its good to get away even if it's just for a few days. after a flight delay we finally landed on langkawi. we had our own vehicle which made up most of the thrill(let's just say i wasn't the only one behind the wheel). as the day dragged towards the evening, we couldn't take enough of pictures of ourselves against the magnificent orange sky and clear horizons. we had the day in langkawi planned; up the cable car, go karting, visit the waterfalls, and even a friendly of beach volleyball with some of the staff of the hotel. then bad news came shortly after a game of volleyball on our own; the evening ferry tickets, which we had thought we had secured, were somehow sold(to someone who offered more for them perhaps). plans were ruined of course but frankly, i had thought it was a real pity that the consensus reached was to leave langkawi in the early afternoon and not the next morning. i mean, t'was so much we've yet to do. the sight of the beach itself was more than enough of a reason - the smooth sand. scorching sun. & other vball enthusists... it was a mighty fine beach. need i say more? at penang we settled down at the seemingly fabled Baba's guesthouse. t'was was a directional sign, "nice, clean & simple. (see to believe)". it pretty much described everything about it. with what's left of the day we took a walk down the night market and back up again. the bulk of the afternoon was spent at beach. we had a few sets of pure 2 on 2 beach volleyball. we hit the waves on the jet ski and got pulled up into the sky in a parachute. we messed around on the beach, like a bunch of kids. and we met Ali Baba(he handed me his namecard personally). we didn't try the nasi kandar which we heard quite abit about but food was great generally with an exception maybe - penang laksa is funny food. in the words of uncle jack, "很爽的!". that sums it all up more or less. it was fun while it lasted. photos here. and remember kids, "做人要有爱心!" jorn was alive and kickin' at 12:14:00 PM 0 comments

beach
wmp: jacks mannequin, dark blue
the trip to the beach last weekend was better than i had expected apart from getting my toe hooked onto by a fucking fish hook left around by some irrespossible dumbass and having someone's heel planted right onto my feet ripping some skin off with the very abrasive sand in between... it's been unbelievably a year. i had not much of good spikes but they were enough to make my day. having the ball in midair, i was less conscious of my movements despite my bad knee and it was liberating. towards the end of the day my stomach was almost trying to eat itself while my knee ached like a knife was twisting about within but yeah, somehow glad i dragged myself out of the house still... it was work back as usual on wednesday, thursday and finally friday. my monday is gonna be fucked up. the entire upcoming week for that matter. i wonder why me. i thought i might as well pull out a chair, crack open a beer, and watch it come. i've decided to take the backseat when it rains shit. if it's any consolation i'm watching spider-man tomorrow... o'boy... united 300. this, is funny. jorn was alive and kickin' at 1:36:00 AM 0 comments

sj's day
i saw alot of familiar faces that day. julian at orchard. hj & gang at ps. but more surprisingly, while watching 'wild hogs', paul senior from 'american chopper'... & john c mcginley aka dr perry cox from 'scrubs'. almost unreal.
at ps we saw a guy in a spider-man costume on the ground floor taking pictures with the crowd. i've got to get one of those too. a spider-man costume. wahaha. seriously. i thought it'd be uber cool. even if it's just gonna be for the kicks. jorn was alive and kickin' at 12:33:00 PM 0 comments

confessions of the comic book geek
wmp: angels and airwaves, the adventure
over the weekend i bought the civil war trade at kinokuniya and the first issue of the civil war fallen son at absolute comics. i read and re-read them while on the train and back in my own bedroom. i was addicted to leinil yu's pencils. the nights that followed i turned to episode after episode of scrubs. i had good laughs. i like how everything fall into a perspective at the end of every funny episode. jorn was alive and kickin' at 12:54:00 PM 1 comments

18 nights in taiwan
wmp: blink 182 - not now
perhaps its because i've never travelled much in my life but i really enjoyed immersing myself in the new surroundings; the mornings, a calmness that extends from beyond the hills; three black pups by the door step, i felt innocence frolicking around my boots; the fields of agriculture, and of hardship perhaps, gave form to the wind as they make their way thru; the cold front, so cold that our breathes could be seen; the view down the narrow streets diminished by commercial signages that further clutter the outlook of the buildings; the skies lined with power cables suspended from pylon to pylon; and of course, the people - taxi drivers, lift operators, the commotion at the night markets, the ladies... i had the wildest night in my life, possibly the happiest too at the club in the city. but felt the whole night was dumb when i thought abt it again. jorn was alive and kickin' at 4:06:00 AM 0 comments |
